Business phone configuration

Configures business phones centrally instead of setting up each handset by hand.

Why it was needed

Setting up each business phone by hand was slow and produced inconsistent results.

Communications

What changed

The service lets each handset identify itself and receive the correct shared settings, phone identity, dialing rules, and interface behavior from one centrally managed source.

Key requirements

Each handset asks for configuration using its hardware identity and receives only its assigned account plus the approved shared settings. Model and firmware differences are handled separately, credentials are not exposed in the management view, and a new fleet configuration can be tested before phones are told to reboot into it.

Main features

  1. Serve shared device configuration
  2. Generate per-device profiles
  3. Match each phone to its assigned account
  4. Control interface behavior
  5. Manage dialing settings

Result

Replaced individual handset setup with centrally managed phone configuration.
